How to kill ants without toxic spray

When you want to kill ants, speed matters, but so does hitting the part that counts. Killing the ants on the counter feels satisfying and changes nothing, because the colony simply sends more. The trick is a fast contact kill paired with a treatment that reaches the trail and the nest, all plant-powered so it is safe to use around the people and pets you are protecting.

What actually kills ants

Ants are hard to kill by swatting because they are small, fast and endlessly replaced. A contact killer with plant-based active ingredients drops them on the spot, while a residual powder keeps working at the entry points long after you have left the room. Knowing the difference between a contact kill and a lasting residual is the whole game. (More on the how and why: Contact vs. residual spray: what is the difference? and How to get rid of ants in the house.)

The non-toxic way to kill ants

Six Feet Under kills ants on contact with plant-based active ingredients for the fast knockdown. Follow it with Dust to Dust, puffed into cracks and entry points with the Insect Buster, so the powder keeps killing where ants travel. For season-long killing power around the whole house, prepare Barricade according to label directions, attach the sprayer and treat the perimeter.

Kill it right

  • On contact: spray Six Feet Under directly on active ants and trails.
  • At the entry points: puff Dust to Dust into cracks and gaps with the Insect Buster.
  • Around the home: treat the perimeter with Barricade for lasting control.
  • Then starve them out: seal food and reapply Dust to Dust after cleaning.
