Natural Flea Control

Natural flea control comes down to breaking the cycle in the room the fleas actually live in, without reaching for a chemical fogger. You lift the eggs and larvae out of the carpet, dry out what is left with a plant-powered powder and keep the pet treated. Here is how the plant-powered approach works.

Why plant-powered flea control works

Fleas are vulnerable at the stage most sprays miss: the larvae down in the carpet. A plant-powered powder handles them by physics rather than poison. Dust to Dust works like diatomaceous earth but kills faster, scratching the waxy shell of larvae and adults and drying them out. It keeps working in the carpet for as long as it stays in place. Six Feet Under is a plant-based contact spray for hard floors and skirting that dries clean, so it belongs in a home with pets and children in a way a synthetic fogger does not. (What plant-powered really means: What does plant-powered insect spray mean?)

Natural flea control that actually lasts

The plant-powered method is a routine, not a one-time treatment. Vacuum the carpets and rugs often to pull out eggs and larvae and to trigger the cocoons, then empty the vacuum outside each time. Work Dust to Dust into the carpet and the edges with the Insect Buster, leave it down: it keeps working as long as it stays in place and visible, so top it up only where it is vacuumed up or no longer visible. Wash pet bedding hot and keep the animal itself on a vet-recommended flea treatment. Do these together and you break the cycle without fogging your home.

Natural flea control, step by step

  • Vacuum often: carpets, rugs and edges, then empty the vacuum into an outside bin. Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter so the fine powder does not slip through and damage the motor.
  • Dust the carpet: brush a thin layer of Dust to Dust into the fibers with the Insect Buster, then leave it down and top it up only where it is gone.
  • Spray the hard edges: mist Six Feet Under along skirting and thresholds where the carpet ends.
  • Cover the pet and the bedding: keep the animal on a vet flea product and wash its bedding hot.
