What attracts fruit flies?

Fruit flies are attracted to ripe, fermenting or decaying fruit and vegetables, as well as fermented beverages like wine and beer. They're drawn by the odor of yeasts and acetic acid, produced during fermentation.

Does Sweet Surrender work better than apple cider vinegar?

Yes, it does!

Dr. Killigan performed extensive testing for over a year on this particular product. He and his team found that Sweet Surrender yields catch-rates of up to 10 times those of apple cider vinegar, which is most commonly used to attract fruit flies.

What is the best location for Sweet Surrender?

Since they are attracted to light and the smell of mature fruit, this tends to be on a windowsill or near fruit on a countertop.

You can also try different spots within your kitchen to find the most effective location for the trap in your particular environment.

How long does Sweet Surrender last?

Once opened, Sweet Surrender will last up to 6 weeks. Unopened and stored as indicated in a cool, dark place, it lasts for 2 years from the manufacture date, listed on the container.

Various factors, such as heat, air flow and light exposure can affect the longevity of the attractant. We encourage you to use your discretion and change it out if the container is becoming overly full of insects, or if you feel it should be changed for any other reason.

The Fruit Fly Trap can be reused indefinitely, and refills of the Sweet Surrender can be purchased separately.

How long do fruit flies live?

A fruit fly's life span depends on the climate conditions in your home. The average life span is 40-60 days. However, they love warmth and humidity, so in ideal conditions they can live up to 80 days. Maturation (egg to adult) happens in approximately 10 days.
