How it works

Six Feet Under Barricade is an outdoor household insect barrier that utilizes the power of soybean oil, essential oils and residual silicates to kill and repel insects efficiently for up to 90 days, and in a way where they cannot build up resistance to the product.

The “mechanical kill” approach relies on physical modes of action that disrupt the vital functions of insects. This approach overcomes the challenges of resistance development in insects commonly seen with traditional toxic insecticides.

Soybean oil serves as a key component of Six Feet Under Barricade's “mechanical kill” approach. It attacks the insect by means of desiccation and suffocation. Soybean oil blocks insect spiracles, causing interference with their respiratory system and breaking down their outer cuticle, which leads to dehydration and death.

Residual silicates provide a long lasting protective barrier when applied proactively and act as a desiccant as insects walk through them. Silicates exhibit broad-spectrum control over many types of insects.

Peppermint oil and wintergreen oil, known for their repelling properties, create an unwelcoming environment for pests. These oils deter pests from infesting treated areas.

Encapsulating essential oils within silicates is highly advantageous, ensuring the stability and protection of these oils against environmental factors and, through slow release, amplifying their effectiveness in both repelling and exterminating insects.

01

Charge the sprayer

Connect the USB-C charger to the sprayer and charge it before use. Charging should take between 1-2
hours.

02

Fill with water

Fill the application bag with water up to the fill line using approximately 122 oz. of water. Distilled water is preferred for the most consistent results.

03

Prepare the formula

Shake the concentrate well and pour the entire bottle into the application bag. NOTE: 6 oz. of concentrate (1 bottle) makes 1 gallon of product.

04

Assemble

Insert the sprayer hose into the application bag, ensuring it reaches the bottom of the bag. Fasten the closure down. Do not over-tighten.

05

Adjust the nozzle

Adjust the sprayer nozzle to either a stream or mist setting.

Application

These tips will help prevent insects from entering your living and working spaces, from congregating in outdoor lounging spaces, and from creating nests in these areas. Always target potential entry points. Around your home, apply product:

  • Along the perimeter of the home
  • Along the foundation and siding of the home
  • Around and on patios and decks
  • Along the perimeter and interior of garages and storage areas
  • Around frames of windows and doors
  • In cracks and crevices in walls
  • In any surface where insects may hide or lay eggs
  • In your basement and crawlspace

These tips will target crawling insects in your soil and will help prevent insects from damaging plants and crops. Do not spray directly on plants and shrubs. Locations to apply product:

  • On outdoor furniture. Remove cushions before spraying and replace when surface is dry.
  • Around the perimeter of your garden. Avoid spraying when beneficial pollinators are present.
  • In landscaped areas, including around shrubs, plants and mulch beds.
  • In cracks and crevices in sidewalks

These tips will consider temperature and weather conditions for optimal effectiveness.

  • Choose the right time of day. Aim to apply during the warmest part of the day, when temperatures are above freezing.
  • Check weather conditions. Avoid applying during rainy conditions, as precipitation can wash away the product and reduce its effectiveness. Avoid applying when temperatures are expected to drop below freezing, as this may affect the product’s efficacy.
  • Check wind conditions. Avoid applying during windy days, to prevent drift.
  • Apply during insect activity. Insects tend to be more active during warmer periods, increasing the likelihood of contact with treated surfaces.
  • Inspect and treat harborages. In colder climates, insects may seek shelter in protected areas such as cracks, crevices and gaps in structures.
  • Remember: It’s important to monitor the product’s effectiveness, especially after weather events. If pest activity persists or re-infestation occurs, reapply product.
