    Frequently Asked Questions

Six Feet Under spray is a “kill on contact” solution for an array of bugs—including cockroaches, mosquitoes, moths, flies, earwigs and silverfish. It is not meant for preventing insects like a repellent. Our most recent upgraded formula does have a residual effect that will let the potency linger on the sprayed surface.

Proper trap placement is the key to your success. You want to capitalize on the fact that flies are attracted to light, by placing these traps on windows. These traps will not yield the results you desire with placement on other locations such as refrigerators, doors, or walls. These traps work best at the bottom edge of the glass because the top of the trap has the largest opening for insects to enter. Clean the glass so that the plastic housing suction cups will stick well, wet the suction cups for max suction, and adhere to windows. Then place the sticky trap insert inside the housing. Choose windows that seem to be high traffic or "popular hangouts" for bugs. There are usually at least two windows in a home that seem to attract bugs more than others. Place your traps on these windows. Proceed to catch flies and other bugs.

These work for flies, moths, and other insects that fly along or crawl on windows. The Fly Inn takes advantage of habits, (attraction to light and windows), instead of smells or other pheromone attractants. They catch bugs when you’re not looking, but keep in mind that not all fly species are attracted to light.

Fruit Flies are also attracted to light, and to a lesser degree, heat. Experiment with different locations in your kitchen. A jar of Sweet Surrender placed on a windowsill can sometimes outperform the attractant being placed just next to the bowl of fruit. Our formula is reusable for 3-4 weeks at a time.

Our Sweet Surrender is not intended to catch drain flies or gnats but the fruit fly (drosophila melanogaster). Other names include the vinegar fly or pomace fly.. Helpful hints in identifying are: Fruit flies have rounded bodies compared to gnats. Gnats have a similar body style to mosquitos with long bodies and dangly legs. Fruit flies are brown in appearance whereas gnats are black in appearance. Drain flies have fuzz-like bodies and can be compared to the appearance of moths.

To best utilize these products, place the Fly Inn on a well-lit window. Then place the Sweet Surrender lure in a jar near any produce in the kitchen. Use Six Feet Under to wipe down any areas you may see moth eggs and larvae. You can also use it to instantly kill multiple flies on the mist setting. With these products, you have an arsenal ready to slay any bugs that come your way.

The pheromone attractant is effective for three months once they have been removed from the foil wrapper. After that, they start to lose potency. Dispose of them sooner if they are full of moths. Unopened, these traps will keep their potency for three years after the manufacturer date that is located on the top of the box.

In this bundle, we provide both Pantry Moth and Clothing Moth Traps. Here are a few quick identifiers to assist you in determining what kind of moth you may have and where to place the traps:

    Clothing Moth:

-Found in quiet, dark, and undisturbed places: such as corners of closets and drawers, basements, attics, and wool rugs (that aren’t moved).

-Larvae are cream-colored, maggot-looking, and have a brown head.

-Create little holes primarily in animal-based fibers: wool, merino, cashmere, silk, feather, or fur.

-Though barely detectable, make mostly white threads on fabric that look like very fine cobwebs.

-We recommend placing one Clothing Moth Trap on your clothing rod and one low to the ground in your closet.

    Pantry Moth:

-Often found flying in zigzag lines in kitchens and other rooms of the house.

-Their wings are pale gray and the front wing is reddish-brown and coppery on the outer parts.

-Their webbing is found along the corners of packages or on the product itself with an unpleasant odor or sticky secretion that causes grains to clump together.

-We recommend placing them in a web-like formation. This means placing the traps in different levels near the source of the infestation: One high, one low, and one somewhere in the middle.

For mess-free filling, we’ve included a convenient funnel for your diatomaceous earth (DE) powder, which is not included with your order of this product. DE is a very fine powder and also clumps very easily. This can result in small inconsistencies in flow with most powder applicators on the market. To avoid this, we’ve included a steel ball already in the bulb. You can shake periodically to break up any small clumps. The flexible vinyl tubing can be attached to the curved tip to reach around corners or eaves, and last but not least, the brass extension rod can be used to get into those hard-to-reach crevices. Just unscrew the curved brass tip from the aluminum lid and thread the extension rod in its place. Now add the curved tip to the nut connector at the end of the extension rod and viola!

All of our products in this bundle are completely non-toxic and are safe to use as directed around food, pets and children. Diatomaceous Earth powder is safe for you, but deadly for bugs. However, if diatomaceous earth is inhaled, it may irritate the nasal passages. We recommend a mask while using the Insect Buster to disperse the DE powder around the home until settled.
